When I handed Valerie the rifle I told her, “I’m going for the contrast. The rifle is hard, you are soft. The rifle is all angles and you are all curves.” I had this image in my head of the rifle making a straight line between her breasts, which would be the curves in the image.
It is something like what I wanted. I wish I noticed the tilt in her shoulder, which is also in her breasts. And the hand position could have been better. I needed to pay more attention, but this was also a group shoot, so there were 4 other photographers shooting at the same time, and I wasn’t as observant as I would have been if it had just been the two of us.
