Podcast Co-host Shawna Rencher is a bad ass in lots of ways, including being a 2nd degree black belt in Kung Fu. When we got together to shoot some promo pictures for the podcast I wanted to wear my suit, so I asked her to wear something formal. After shooting those images I said, we have to shoot you with a gun in that dress.
We did better than that. I give you Shawna “Two Gun” Rencher.
We had a number of goals. The first of which was to get some images for the podcast itself. This is the one that I retouched and posted first and it is now our profile pick on the Photographer And Model Facebook Page (go become a fan).
This first image I ever printed and hung on the wall of my home. This one of Roxy Vandiver playing the violin under the I-45/I-59 interchange in Houston.
This image is on my Photographer and Model Business cards, and it is my print on the wall of my studio. (There are 4 of us and we each have one 16×20 on the wall).
The image is actually a little taller than this and here is quite a bit more buttock, but I kind of like it cropped like this. The small of the back hits the rule of thirds better.
Ended up being my first Zivity set, but did it because it was a cool idea in my head. Take a model with a lot of color and pose her in a kiddie pool full of milk.
This was the first time I shot my shower on black images. I shot them with a new model Brit and she looked great. She had a very fit look and it really came out in these images.
I wanted to shoot with model Toxic because her skin looked so perfect in all her images. I’m a sucker for good skin – one of the reasons I wanted to shoot Janet as well.
Toxic doesn’t like using other MUAs, so she did her own. Probably a little light for most of the images. But then I wanted to do something wild with face paint and she did this. I think she used gaffer’s tape on her skin to get those perfect lines.
This is a classic high-key beauty image, but she isn’t a classic high-key beauty. Beautiful but alt.
Model Denise Williamson on my first girls with gun shoot. The school girl outfit is hers, the rifle is mine. She looks hot and deadly, which is just what I was going for.
Catching expression is key to a cool image. Janet didn’t like any of the images from my shoot with her because she felt they made her look fat. But we still had a good time and I thought the images were beautiful.
Picking the first 17 wasn’t too hard, but getting down to ten was painful. There were a couple of images that vied for #10, but I selected this one.
Kind of funny that one of the top 10 wasn’t even a model photography picture. Instead, it was a concert image. So why did I pick it?
Because it captured the moment so well. It was a concert and Votaire is pretty comical and satiric. He had a couple of fans up on stage singing the song with him and I shot the horizontal image. Of course what made it was someone lifting a glass in the foreground. Just added the feeling the image needed.
