• Hi all!
I'm happy to be apart of the forum, so I just thought I would throw some images up here for discussion.

Here is the lovely Ana, a model from the Chicago area.

Let me know what you think!

  • Hey Jude, your pictures have nice contrast, colors, and warm skin tones. Your model is very cute and posed okay. I think that she would be very happy with the results. I like number 1 and 3 the best.

  • Thanks Keith for you feedback. Ana was very happy with the results. Still, I'm always looking to improve my game. I know I've seen much better work than mine out there! :-)
  • Nice work. I like 6426 best, personally. I think in general it has better background separation and softer skin than the other two. The difference in tonality to the background really adds depth and the hot spots on her face are softer and less pronounced (she looks a little oily in the others). Nicely done all around however.
  • Thanks for taking the time to give some feedback. I appreciate it!

  • Jude:

I like your lighting, it is a good combo of natural and flash.

I think her makeup is a little shiny and I'm not thrilled about the eyes. But she looks good and does well conveying emotion.

Good work, and thanks for posting.

  • shiny skin is a problem in my work also. A few weeks ago, a model brought this blotting paper and she just dabbed her forehead and it was gone. I also find darker skinned models are shinier ....and I love to photograph ebony models. Is there an answer to this
  • Thanks for the feedback Ron. Could you elaborate more on why you don't like the eyes? Is it a make up thing? Or could I have done something better with the lighting setup?

    ---Jude
  • Jude:

On the eyes, I generally don't like when a little line is added from the corner of the eye like she has. For regular "clean" make up is just seems weird. I can be useful in more exotic type shoots if done well.

On the shininess, that's mostly in the last image. It could be she was just getting hot and starting to glisten - women don't sweat, they glisten. :)
